* BLOG * NOTTINGHAM: Tour update

Today we are in Nottingham - at the infamous Rock City.

The Circa Survive boys and I had to leave the venue in Bristol early last night to ensure parking today - but I managed to catch the CS set and the lads in Fighstar too. The venue last amazing was sooo rammed last night, it was amazing.

The Bristol Academy - for those that haven't been - is very shallow and wide - so lots of people can get pretty close to their fave bands. There are also a bunch of layered balconies and stairways that people stand on, so everyone has a good view.
People really seemed to be enjoying themselves, and the merch stand was buzzing with people trying to get their hands on gear from their artist of the night.

Yet again, I met some great music fans outside the show before the doors opened - bravely bearing the cold to make sure they got down the front.
I made a little video with two of them yesterday, which is in the news section if you want to check it out.

I just went to another signing at a clothing store with Madina Lake - it was pretty cool - considering it's a school day, a whole load of people came out to say Hi to the lads. There were even two girls that had hand-written loads of ML lyrics across their shirts - it had taken them 7 hours!!! That's dedication.

Right now, Coheed And Cambria are sound-checking upstairs. Every day, Chris - their new(ish) drummer checks his drums himself - and apparently polishes his kit and keeps everything clean. He is an AMAZING drummer... some nights I just stand at the side of the stage for their set just to watch him play.

Fighstar are hanging around the venue - every day is like a mini-office - with everyone getting their laptops out and emailing their friends and family.

The Circa lads are loading their gear into the venue, and some are even still asleep. I managed to wake by 12.30 - not bad for tour! And then snuck into the venue to get a shower.

I am seriously considering uploading an instructional video on how to wash your hair in a sink - am getting damn good at it - and learning new techniques every day.

Anyways.. will try and send some pics today soon. The wireless connection here is a bit crappy - but will do my best to bring you all the news as it happens.

My fingers are numb now. Gonna go hug a cup of soup.

Much love

Katie xx :)

  • I wash my hair in the sink alot.
Another good tip is to stand on your tip toes and push your head to the back of the sink so the water gets right to the beginning of the shortest bit.

    Cant wait till Glasgow.
I'm so coming to chat to you xD

Keep up teh amazing blogs Katieeeee!!!

  • [print this fucker in the magazine, people really need to know this]

the Madina Lake pit tonight at Rock City was the best pit I've ever been in. I'm not a huge ML fan, just went cos' it was free, but wow. All you dirty moshers get yourself to Download to see these, apparently it beats Anthrax, Download/Ozzfest and Metallica pits! (A man i was speaking to confessed to it! :O )

Fucking good night to say I wasn't at all interested when i saw the lineup!

hope you enjoy the rest of the tour.

  • I went to this gig and I thought Madina Lake were clearly the best band playing. I thought Circa survive struggled to keep the crowd awake and the crowd wound Charlie Simpson from Fightstar up by singing an old Busted song. Coheed and Cambria were awesomely mental but Madina Lake kept the audience more entertained because they did more stunts and talked to their fans more. Aweomse gig! Thanks Kerrang!

  • The Kerrang! Tour at Rock City was amazing! That was my first concert ever and I got crushed! I don't think that Circa Survive and Fighstar were too good (I can'treach out to them, but Madina were brilliant! I met them twice- once at the singing (I went first and I think I was a bit of a prat, sorry guys!) and once after the show. I got photos with them all, Nathan and Matthew signed my hands, Matthew hugged me and my friend Kim for getting crushed at the front AND I actually gave Nathan one of my wristband things! Best night of my life, apart from the fact that Mateo was a bit ill (later I learned Dave Grohl was too). Get well soon guys! Hope you're both well enough to play the rest of your tours! Madina Lake FUCKING ROCK!!!

  • P.S Me again. I just wanted to add that what Nathan said during Madina Lake's set really touched me, and I forgot to mention Dan, who totally fucking rocked! Nathan's bandana thing looked amazing with his hair! Oh yeah, and I missed Coheed and Cambria because me, Kim and her mum left Gemma to see tham whilst we went to meet ML again. Hope the rest of the tour goes well guys!
